Founded by Winthrop. For Winthrop.

In February 2004, Winthrop High School alumni and community members formed Viking Pride Foundation in response to school budget cuts and rising activity fees.

Our mission

We support co-curricular activities in Winthrop Public Schools and the whole student—spirit, mind, and body. Through athletics, the arts, clubs, and student activities, we help create opportunities for students to grow, connect, and thrive.

A history of community support

Past Foundation projects include reducing athletic fees, supporting school buses, purchasing sports uniforms, and funding the arts, school clubs, and special grants. Viking Pride also contributed $35,000 toward sport court flooring at Larsen Rink to expand its year-round use.

Powered by volunteers

The Foundation is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and supported by alumni, families, businesses, and neighbors.
